The Board of Supervisors gave the OK to Kern County Sheriffโ€™s Office to appear in a new season.

๐Ÿ—‘ Got bulky waste? Kern County Public Works is hosting multiple bulky waste collection sites (3 in Bakersfield, 1 in Buttonwillow) to drop off eligible items. Saturday, October 5 from 8 AM to 12 PM.

๐Ÿฅฉ LongHorn Steakhouse is coming to Rosedale. Opening expected this coming spring of 2025.

๐Ÿ•๏ธ The City of Bakersfield will be offering a low-cost dog vaccination clinic along with low-cost microchips and dog licensing for city residents at Silver Creek Park. Saturday, October 5 from 8 AM to 12 PM.

๐ŸŽฐ Ready to test your luck? A ceremony was held at the construction site of the Tejon Hard Rock Casino, celebrating the placement of a final beam on the structure. The casino is expected to open in late 2025.

๐ŸŸฅ Governor Gavin Newsom signs a bill banning artificial food dyes in drinks and foods sold at schools K-12 throughout the state. Artificial dyes such as Red 40 have been linked to behavioral and learning issues in children.

๐Ÿ” Bentley Bowl (downtown Bakersfield) is a new CSUB athlete owned soul food truck with macaroni and cheese, yams, and fried chicken on the menu.

๐ŸŽƒ Murray Family Farms Pumpkin Patch: Games, rides, photo ops, food, tours, sunflower and corn mazes, and more. Free pumpkins with every paid admission. October 1 to 31. Monday through Thursday 2 PM to 9 PM. Friday through Sunday 1 PM to 10 PM.

๐ŸŽƒ Banducciโ€™s Family Pumpkin Patch: Admission includes one trip through corn maze. Petting zoo opens October 4. Pony rides open October 5. Monday through Friday 10 AM to 8 PM. Saturdays 9 AM to 8 PM. Sundays 10 AM to 6 PM. Halloween 10 AM to 4 PM.

๐ŸŽฅ Horror Movie Fest: Watch classic horror movies every Wednesday in the month of October at Reading Cinemas Valley Plaza.

 ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Bako Market: Support local small businesses with 100+ vendors and food trucks. Centennial Plaza at Mechanics Bank Arena. Free. Saturday, October 5. 10 AM to 3 PM.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Southwest Night Market: Another local market with plenty of vendors and food at the Stockdale High School parking lot. Free. Saturday, October 5. 6 PM to 10 PM.

๐Ÿช… Cultura Fest: Join to celebrate Latino culture, community, and heritage. Live music, artists, food, and vendors. Free. Saturday, October 5. 12 PM to 9 PM.

๐Ÿฅ Delano 79th Annual Grand Parade (Delano): Celebrate local agricultural heritage on Main Street. Pop-up event with vendors and a car show afterwards. Free. Saturday, October 5. 10 AM to 11:30 AM. Pop-up event 12 PM to 9 PM.
